Dean Winnard (born 20 August 1989) is an English professional footballer who plays for Morecambe. His natural position is central defender however since joining Accrington Stanley he has predominantly been used as a left full back.
Career
Winnard was born in Wigan, Greater Manchester.[1] He captained the under-18 and reserve teams at Blackburn Rovers,[2] but was released in 2009 without appearing for the first team. He signed for Accrington Stanley on 19 June 2009,[3] and made his Football League debut on 8 August in the 0–1 defeat to Rotherham United.[4] He signed for Morecambe on 1 June, on a 2-year deal, after being released by Accrington. Winnard scored his first goal for Morecambe in an FA Cup tie against Coventry City on 6 November 2016.[5]
