Dharkayn Geenyo is a town in the northern Sool region of Somalia.
Overview
It is located on the Somalia-Ethiopia border. Dharkayn Geenyo is a historical town, it was a important border post during the Siad Barre government with one of the biggest Somali military bases.
Demographics
The town is primarily inhabited by people from the Somali ethnic group, with the Qayaad and Farah Garaad, Dhulbahante sub-clan of the Harti Darod especially well represented. Majority of the people are nomadic and their life depends on livestock.
