Drew Gasparini

Drew Gasparini is an American composer and singer/songwriter. He is a composer and lyricist for musical theater and also tours as a performer, sharing the stage with musicians like Jason Mraz, Third Eye Blind, and the Plain White T's. He won the John Lennon Songwriting Award in 2006.[1][2][3]

Early life

Born and raised in Novato, CA which is just north of San Francisco. According to Gasparini, everyone in his family was musical. Everyone sang and played instruments. When he was 12, he wrote his first song for his mother as a Mother's Day gift.

Musical theater

Gasparini has written music, book and lyrics for his own musicals "Crazy, Just Like Me" (winner of "Best of Fest" and runner up for "Best Book" in the New York Musical Theater Festival 2011), "Turn Of The Screw" (book by Michael Kimmel- commission by Fordham University at Lincoln Center), "Make Me Bad" (book by Alex Brightman; PACE New Musicals 2013 and Bloomington Playwrights Project 2015), "Circles: A Song Cycle", "Inappropriate Stories Told At a Bar," "The Wreck",.[2] He has been the featured composer for the National Alliance of Musical Theater and has twice been featured by Contemporary Classics New Voices in Seattle, Scott Alan's New Voices and the New York Theatre Barn in New York City. Gasparini's music and lyrics were presented at the Kennedy Center in D.C. on the Millennium Stage in June 2012. He also contributed music and lyrics for over a dozen New York produced cabarets and one person shows, including the one-woman show "Hot Mess in Manhattan". [2][3][4] He has a new show with Warner Bros. Theatrical currently in development.[5]

Other work

Gasparini's song "Good for You" was featured in the NBC musical series "Smash", sung by series star Katharine McPhee in the second season episode "The Dramaturg".[6]> The song is available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon.com.[7] He has also contributed music to the Oxygen network's "The Next Big Thing". His album I Could Use a Drink: The Songs Of Drew Gasparini spent five weeks on the iTunes top 100 pop charts. He is also a part of creative, comedy collective known as "The (M)orons" which consists of Broadway actors/writers, Andrew Kober, F. Michael Haynie, and Alex Brightman.
