The Early Development of Global Education (EDGE) is an American organization which was founded in 2007 to raise environmental awareness, teach conservation, and combat global pollution through a green preschool certification process known as EDGE accreditation. EDGE preschools and affiliated organizations span across 9 countries in 4 continents. The EDGE accreditation process involves adoption of a green curriculum within the basic teachings of early preschool education. Founded in 2007 by three very diverse women in business, both EDGE and EDGE Charitable Foundation have positively impacted growth, environmental awareness, and early childhood education among thousands of children in the United States, India, Central America, Africa, and the Caribbean. Its unique integration of the three R's (reduse, reuse, and recycle) into basic preschool education have placed EDGE accredited schools on the national map and globally. As a result it has earned the tagline; "Educators. Environmentalists. Humanitarians." The organization launched its flagship school Old Cutler Academy in 2007 which earned the distinct recognition of "the first eco-friendly preschool in the state of Florida and the United States," with congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen awarding the school a Congressional Proclamation.
In addition to its network of accredited eco-friendly schools,[1] EDGE is a family of dedicated business professionals,[2] and educators. Its global mission is to teach environmental education and social responsibility.
