Edward Russell Thomas (December 30, 1875 - July 6, 1926) was an American businessman and sportsman.
Early life
Edward Russell Thomas was born on December 30, 1875.[1][2] He was a son of Union general Samuel Thomas.[3] He graduated from Yale University.[3]
Career
Thomas was a senior member of Thomas & Thomas, a Wall Street firm.[3]
He acquired the New York Morning Telegraph from the estate of William Collins Whitney in 1904.[2][4]
Personal life
From 1901 to 1912, he was married to Linda Lee Thomas. In 1912, he married Elizabeth R. Finley. In 1924, he married actress Lucy Cotton. Their daughter, Lucetta, inherited Thomas' fortune.[5] He was a member of the Union Club of the City of New York.[3]
Death
He died on July 6, 1926.[1][2]
