Elayirampannai is a panchayat town in Virudhunagar district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The economy of this small town is based on manufacturing safety matches, crackers and agriculture.
Overview
Elayirampannai has a history of more than 350 years. Once it was ruled by Zamindars who were palayakarars before the British rule. [1] Even today the descendants of Jaminthars are living in Elayirampannai. In Elayirampannai,we can see many temples. Arulmigu Parasakthi Mariamman Kovil is one of them. Its Chithirai festival is a famous festival of this temple. This will be a 12-day function in the Tamil month of Chithirai. People of Elayirampannai living in various places like Coimbatore, Thirupur, Pollachi and Chennai come here to make this festival a grand success. The main business here is Agriculture and Safety Matches. Business people of this village are exporting their quality products abroad. Some other important places of worship are siva sudalaimaadan temple,Pathrakaliamman temple, Kasivishwanadhar and vishalatchi ammam temple and Emaraj temple (historical famous), SRI Kamatchi Amman temple, RC Church and CSI church. Ayiappan temple with Mapillai vinayagar temple (old elayirampannai).
