Eli Verschleiser is an American businessman from New York City. He is a financier, philanthropist, real estate developer, and investor in commercial real estate projects.

Verschleiser has been an active participant in a number of high profile of real estate transactions including the Trump Tower (Philadelphia).[1] Verschleiser has participated in the acquisition of a million square foot portfolio from Brandywine Realty Trust located throughout the state of Pennsylvania;[2] a condominium conversion on Duane Street in the Tribeca neighborhood of New York City;[3] and the purchase of debt on 490 apartments in the Bronx.[4] Verschleiser through his company has represented Waterton in its $218 million acquisition of 88 Leonard Street,[5] and a hotel development project in the Financial District of New York City.[6]

The Multi Group of Companies

Verschleiser is a founding partner and Chairman of the Multi Group of Companies, a private equity real estate investment banking firm.[7] Multi Capital LLC is the Capital Markets division of the Multi Group of Companies, and Multi Investment is the acquisition arm of the Multi Group of Companies. Through his companies, Verschleiser has been involved in over $7 billion of real estate transactions.

Multi Capital Group licensed the Trump name from Donald J Trump and the Trump Organization to construct a luxury hotel and condominium complex in Philadelphia.[8] The property was planned to be a 43-story skyscraper overlooking the Delaware River. William Alesker was the architect of the project.[9] The project was cancelled due to the financial crisis of 2007–08 and halted construction.[10] The property remains an empty lot.[11]

United Realty Trust

Verschleiser was the founder and President of the public REIT United Realty Trust,[12] along with his ex-partner Jacob Frydman. In addition he and his former partner founded United Realty Partners,[13] a privately held firm that invests and advises in the commercial real estate arena.

Verschleiser resigned from the company after suing his ex-partner Jacob Frydman over an illegal investor funds transfer,[14] fraud, and a botched $200 million transaction.[15] There have since been a series of lawsuits mostly over control of the company in which both Verschleiser and Frydman have been fighting over.[16]

Media and Politics

Verschleiser's view of politics [17] are included in many international publications, such as the Moscow Times[18] the Jerusalem Post and the Kyiv Post.[19] Other op-Ed and thoughts from Eli Verschleiser on politics, real estate and his charitable efforts have been featured in many media outlets including the The Hill (newspaper),[20] Philadelphia Daily News,[21] The Jewish Week,[22] and The Algemeiner Journal.[23] Additionally, Eli Verschleiser is a frequent contributor to the Huffington Post.[24]

In November 2015, Eli Verschleiser co-chaired the U.S. Israel Security Alliance Congressional Tribute[25] which took place in the Cannon House Office Building, a part of the United States Capitol in Washington DC.[26]

The event’s honorees were Rodney Frelinghuysen, chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense; Steny Hoyer, House Democratic; Derek Kilmer, member of the House Appropriations Committee; Doug Lamborn, vice chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces; Nita Lowey, ranking member of the House Appropriations Committee; Luke Messer, Republican Policy Committee chairman; Peter Roskam, co-chair of the House Republican Israel Caucus; Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, chair of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa; Hal Rogers, chairman of the House Appropriations Committee; Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces; Ed Royce, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee; Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chair of the Democratic National Committee; and Mike Turner, chairman of the United States House Armed Services Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces.[27] The New York Observer published an Op-ed written by Mr. Verschleiser on the Iron Dome topic and the event.[28]

Philanthropy

Verschleiser is involved in multiple non-profit organizations in the New York area.[29] He is the on the executive board of The American Jewish Congress, Co-Founder & President for Our Place (Foundation), a non-profit organization that provides support, shelter, and counseling for troubled Jewish youth.[30][31] Verschleiser also serves on the Board of Advisors for Magenu, an organization he helped create to educate children in personal safety topics.[32] Through his foundation[33] Verschleiser endeavours in his philanthropic efforts.

Personal life

Eli Verschleiser's wife is Dr. Shani Verschleiser,[34] a co-founder of Magenu.[35] Verschleiser is an avid collector of race cars. He is also an art collector, favoring historical Hebraic art and manuscripts.
