Entre el cielo y la tierra (Between heaven and earth) is a posthumous album by Argentinian singer Gilda. Gilda was working on a new album at the time of her death, but only recorded five songs. The album was completed with collaborations of others cumbia singers and two live songs, recorded by a fan. Se me ha perdido un corazón became one of Gilda most famous songs.
Background
Due to the success of her album Corazón Valiente, Gilda began working on a new album, but only recorded five songs before her tragic death on a car crash while touring. Toty Ramirez, who was the producer and survived the car crash, asked Gilda manager to go to the car crash site and recover a cassette that Gilda was carrying with her. The cassette included the five songs Gilda recorded a cappella. Recovered from his injuries, Toty Ramirez worked on these songs and singers Antonio Rios and Tormenta recorded songs to complete the album, and on 1997 the album Entre el cielo y la tierra was released. But according to Alejandro Margulis, author of Gilda biography Santa Gilda, the story of the cassette on the car crash site was a marketing strategy.[1]
The song No es mi despedida ("Not my farewell") was written by Gilda and is considered prophetic due to the lyrics.
