Eric Tai
Eric Tai (born August 23, 1984) is a Tongan actor, model, TV host, comedian and rugby union player who played for the Alabang Eagles and represented the Philippines national rugby union team in 15s and 7s. He is also one of the hosts of It's Showtime, where he goes by the screen name, Eruption.[1][2]
Early career
Tai first came to the Philippines as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) where he was able to serve a 2-year mission in Naga City. He was able to return years later playing Rugby which is his childhood sport in Tonga and New Zealand. Tai was launched himself as a part of Philippine Volcanoes around 2010 or 2011. Eruption began hosting on It's Showtime in 2012 with his new hosts.
Subsequent career
Tai has also had many commercials endorsements from various foods or non-foods commercials.
In 2014, Tai had a stint on It's Showtime after a Canadian Tour of their show last September, then he had a hiatus until December of the same year.
In 2015, Tai was back on It's Showtime after a long hiatus.
In 2016, Tai left It's Showtime after co-host Coleen Garcia left a week ago.
Personal life
Tai married Rona Samson twice: at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Cubao, Quezon City in March 2015, and in May 2016.[3]
