Fahimul Anam (Bengali: ফাহিমউল আনাম; born 22 December 1972) is a Bangladeshi-born British Islamic scholar, teacher and founding director of the Beacon Institute.
Education
Anam a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). He has graduated with an MA in Teaching and Learning and a BA (Hons) in Business Studies and Marketing from the University of London. He also completed a Diploma in Arabic language and a BA in Usul-Ad-Din and Usul-al Fiqh (in the Arabic medium) from the European Institute of Islamic Sciences in France.[1][2][3]
Whilst studying Shariah, he also completed a Tajwid course on Ibn al-Jazari, a classical Tajwid text, and studied Tajwid under a number of Tajwid scholars.[1][4]
Career
Since 2007, Anam has been teaching Aqidah, Fiqh, Usul-al Fiqh, Family Life, Tajwid, Arabic and other Islamic Sciences in the UK in various courses. He also teaches Tajweed and Shariah Sciences at the Beacon Institute, of which he is one of the founding directors. He is also the founding director of 'Muslim Family Matters' and 'Oak Education', a supplementary educational project for children. Sheikh Fahim is also a founding Trustee of 'Gift of Knowledge', a fund for supporting the students of Shariah knowledge.[1]
He is a lead mediator and caseworker for Muslim Mediation Service and also works for HM Prison Service as an Imam and leads [Jumu'ah]] prayer (Friday prayer) at HMP Grendon and Springhill. He also delivers talks on various Islamic issues at university campuses, Mosques and Islamic Centres.[3][4]
Anam is co-founder and co-director of The British Imams and Scholars Contributions and Achievements (BISCA) Awards, a non-sectarian, non-political community venture to highlight positive work of British Imams and Scholars.[5]
Personal life
Ali is married to Selina Begum Ali (born 1975) and has four children.[3][4]
