Life & Career
Faig Balagha oglu Aghayev (Azerbaijani: Faiq Ağayev) (born 29 December 1971, Baku) is an Azerbaijani singer, People's Artist of Azerbaijan. He has been on the professional stage since 1988. Same year he became a winner at the music competition "Baku Autumn '88". Faig Aghayev continued his success and became a winner of the "Golden Autumn '89" Republic contest, also the International "Vitebsk '90" contest and the International TV songs Competition "Yalta '92".
In 1993, he graduated with honours from the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art with a major in "Actor of Musical Theater." After that, he won the International Competition of retro songs named after Klavdiya Shulzhenko "Kharkiv '95" and the "Golden Hit" contest - Mogilev '96.
Since 1996 Faig Aghayev is the soloist of the Azerbaijan State Television and Radio Program Society. During the 2012-2013 he was the soloist of the Azerbaijan State Theater of Mugham.
In 1995, Faig Aghayev released his debut album "Ola bilməz" (Cannot be). His second album «Səni əvəz eləmir» (Nothing can replace you) was released in 1996; «Vəfasızım» (Unfaithful) in 1998; «Faiq Ağayev - Seçmələr» (Faig Aghayev - The Best) in 1999; «Minilliyin sonu» (End of the Millennium) in 2000 and «Tam məxfi» (Top secret) in 2002.
In 1998, Faig Aghayev received the “Humay” National music award for participation in the “Concert of the year” and for the «Dəşti» in the category «Video of the Year."
In 1999, Faig Aghayev received the "Grand" National music award in the nomination for the "Singer of the Year".
Faig Aghayev was awarded with the honorary title of "Honoured Artist of Azerbaijan" by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Heydar Aliyev on October 28, 2000.
In 2000, Faig Aghayev wins the National music award «Qızıl Mikrofon» (Golden Microphone) in the category of "Singer of the Year" and in 2001 he received the "Grand" National music award in 3 categories: "Singer of the Year", "Concert of the Year" («Əsrin və Minilliyin son konserti» - The last concert of the century and the Millennium), and "Album of the year" («Minilliyin sonu» - End of the Millennium).
On January 2007, Faig Aghayev gives a five-day solo concert in the country’s main concert hall – the Heydar Aliyev Palace, setting the absolute record in the history of Azerbaijan’s show business.
On September 17, 2008, he is awarded with the honorary title "People's Artist of Azerbaijan" by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Ilham Aliyev.
Over the following few years Faig Aghayev releases a number of new songs: «Bal Kimi» (Like honey), «Hiss Et» (Feel it), «Odlanacaqsan» (Burn), «Bİllahi» (I swear), «Əlvida» (Farewell), etc.
On December 27-30, 2012, Faig Aghayev held a 4-day sold-out solo concert «VIDA» at the Heydar Aliyev Palace.
Given the title of "Mr. Golden Hit" by his fans, Faig Aghayev gave over 140 solo concerts.
Faig Aghayev was a member of the Azerbaijan’s National Jury for the"Eurovision" International Song Contest in 2013 and 2015 respectively.
