Fall from grace
To fall from grace is an idiom referring to a loss of status, respect, or prestige. It may also refer to:
- Fall of man, Christian term used to describe the transition of the first man and woman from a state of innocent obedience to God to a state of guilty disobedience
- In the New Testament the apostle Paul in his pastoral letter to the Galatians states that "You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace." (Galatians 5:4 NIV) Paul argues that it is not humanity's sins that constitute a fall from grace, but rather it is our own vain attempts to earn justification through perfect obedience to the law, that results in a fall from the grace of God.
