"Flat Top" is a song and single by the Goo Goo Dolls. It was released as the second single from the album A Boy Named Goo.
According to fans, before the song was released on record, the lyric "Is this some kind of joke they're trying to pull on us?" had the word "joke" replaced with "sh*t" in concert. This has not been confirmed but was most likely changed to avoid a Parental Advisory label.

Music video
The music video for "Flat Top" contains many different elements, mostly pertaining to the public being consumed by television. The video mostly takes place in a run down apartment building, with residents each watching TV mindlessly. John, Robby, and Mike are playing in one of the rooms, as images of civilians replaced with TV heads flash across the screen. The camera also shows examples of homeless people, implying that the world should be caring about a lot more than what's on TV.
John Rzeznik has stated that during the shooting of this video, a station caught hold of their next single, Name, so they had to go shoot a video for that song the very next day. That was the first sign of success for the Goo Goo Dolls.
