The Foton Tornadoes are a professional women's volleyball team playing in the Philippine Super Liga (PSL).

History

The team debuted in the Grand Prix Conference of the 2014 PSL season.[1] The team is owned by United Asia Automotive Group, Inc., the distributors of Foton automobiles in the Philippines.

Aside from volleyball, Foton also sponsored men's basketball teams in the Pilipinas Commercial Basketball League (Foton Toplanders), and the Filsports Basketball Association (Pampanga Foton Toplanders), when they won a championship title in the 2nd conference on December 15, 2015.

International tournaments

Members of the Foton Tornadoes under the name of "Foton Pilipinas", on a courtesy call with President Rodrigo Duterte before participating at the 2016 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship.

As the champion of the 2015 PSL Grand Prix, Foton represented the Philippines in the 2016 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship held in Biñan, Laguna.[2] The team was reinforced by three selected players from other PSL teams and imports Lindsay Stalzer and Ariel Usher.[3][4] Italian coach and FIVB volleyball instructor Fabio Menta was named as head coach of the squad.[5] The team finished in 7th place overall after the 9-day competition.[6]
