Albanian Republican Guard

Garda e Republikës (English: Republican Guards) was a military unit, created on 24 June 1928, and its main task was protecting government buildings in Albania.[1] The army troops were under Interior Ministry command and guarded government institutions and senior officials. In September 2013, the Minister of Interior, Sajmir Tahiri, ordered the dissolution of the Albanian Republican Guard. The Guard will become part of the Albanian Police.[2]
