George Torakis (born 11 December 1989 in Heraklion, Greece) is a Greek water polo player representing Canada.
Personal
His parents are Constantine and Jenny and he has an older sister Kuriaki. He has an dual citizenship. Born and raised in Greece, Torakis moved to Montreal, Quebec, Canada in August 2014 to be a part of the Canadian men’s national squad. Studied at the Technological Institute of Greece.
Career
He started playing for the Canadian national team at the end of 2014. He competed at the UANA Cup in late January 2015, helping Canada to qualify for the FINA World Championships. Torakis had played in the first division of the Greek championship for four years and is among the top-30 all-time scorers in the A1 Greek League. He was part of the Canadian team at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships.[1] He plays as of 2015 for Panathinaikos in Greece.[2] He finished 3rd in the Greek Championship with Panathinaikos in 2016
