Giulio Carmassi
Giuliano Giulio Giacomo Carmassi (born February 21, 1981, Lucca, Italy) is an Italian multi-instrumentalist.[1]
Music career
Carmassi has been a member of the Pat Metheny Unity Group and appeared on the albums KIN (←→) (Nonesuch, 2014) and The Unity Sessions (Nonesuch, 2016). The former won album of the year by the annual readers poll in Down Beat magazine. He contributed on keyboards, cello, clarinet, flugelhorn, flute, french horn, recorder, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, vibraphone, and vocals. He has also worked as a composer, arranger, engineer, and producer.[2]
He played trumpet on Chuck Loeb's album, Silhouette, and Keiko Matsui's album, Soul Quest.[2] He worked as an arranger and multi-instrumentalist on Will Lee's album, Love, Gratitude and Other Distractions.[3]
Carmassi composed the score for the movie Somewhere Tonight[4] and has arranged and played piano and horns on Emmy Rossum's album, Sentimental Journey.[2]
