Global Underground 033: Layo & Bushwacka!, Rio is a DJ mix album in the Global Underground series, compiled and mixed by DJ and producer duo Layo & Bushwacka!. This set is based on their recent performance in Rio de Janeiro. This is the first Global Underground mix for Layo & Bushwacka!, although they have appeared on other Global Underground compilations by other DJs. The first disc is older, classic electronic music whereas the second disc is more recent, forward-facing music.[4]
It had always felt a bit strange to ask Layo and Matthew B to do us a mix as they had been personal friends of the label for years. They also happened to be some of our personal favourites as DJs too, so it was inevitable that we’d have to give it a go eventually.
When they finally agreed to do it, there was nowhere in the world they could possibly do the mix from other than Brazil. The duo have a massive following out there, playing regularly to wild support. Layo’s wife is from there too, so the connection runs deep.
The country is the perfect backdrop for their style and has had more than a passing influence on lot of their own tasty production work too. An ideal marriage of DJs and their environment makes Rio an exciting and empassioned addition to the series.
