Golden Square railway station was located on the Bendigo line. It served the southern Bendigo suburb of Golden Square. The station closed to passenger traffic on 4 October 1981, as part of the New Deal timetable for country passengers.[1]
In September 1987, the signal box was abolished, along with the abolishment of all signals, except for one post, the disestablishment of the station as a block post, and all points spiked normal, which were removed at a later date.[2]
Since around 1990, the Melbourne bound station building has been leased by a local radio station, while the smaller Down side building has been leased in the past. In April 2008, renovations were carried out to the Down side building, including re-stumping, and replacement of weatherboards.[3]
