Govind Singh Hindi: डॉ.गोविन्द सिंह (born July 1, 1951) is an Indian political leader who has served as a minister in the state government of Madhya Pradesh and as a senior Congress (I) party leader. Singh has held various ministerial posts since his first such appointment in December, 1998. As of 2011 he is a member of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly for Lahar,[1] having been returned to the Assembly five consecutive times,[2] and is both a vice-president of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee and member of the All India Congress Committee.
Political career
Govind Singh Kushwah's (MLA from Lahar) financial assets in 2008, as declared by him, were Rs. 2 Crore+. However, his assets increased more than three times in just seven years of his working as an MLA. His declared financial assets in the year 2014 is Rs. 7 Crores.[3] In 2014, Singh also tried to create a rift in the All India Congress Committee by writing a letter against party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia.[4] He has the following cases registered against him: PC Sections - 120B, 420, 467, 468, 409 and 12(1)(D)(ii) & 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act.[5]
Singh's political career can be summarised as follows:
- 1990 : Elected first time for 9th Legislative Assembly of Madhya Pradesh.[6]
- 1993 : Elected for 10th Legislative Assembly of Madhya Pradesh.[7]
- 1998 : Elected for 11th Legislative Assembly of Madhya Pradesh.[8]
- December 2003 : Elected for 12th Legislative Assembly of Madhya Pradesh.[9]
- 8November 2008 : Elected fifth time for 13th Legislative Assembly of Madhya Pradesh.[10]
