Groupe d'Intérvention de La Gendarmerie Royale (GIGR) is a set of specially trained military units, educated and trained to carry out a range of specific missions, from "special operations" as part of a conventional conflict with those under the unconventional warfare.
GIGR is composed of the following units:
- 2 Parachute Infantry Brigades (BIP)
- 7 commando units
- 2 battalions of airborne assault
- 1 mountain infantry battalion (mountain)
- 1 Commando Group of the Guard
- 1 BLS (Light Brigade of Security)
- Marines:
- 3 battalions (Al Hoceima / Dakhla / Laayoun) and a Squadron (Casablanca) + 3 intervention groups of the Royal Navy (el hoceima)
- Security group and intervention of the Royal Gendarmerie de Maroc (GSIGR)
- Parachute Squadron Royal Gendarmerie de Maroc
- 16 battalions leger rapid response (IRLS)
- Intervention Rapide groups -GIR- (DGSN)
- Special agent of the DST
- Commando Fusiliers unit of the Air (FCA)
In addition, there are special units such as the GTI (Battle Group motorized / mechanized Intervention) based along the Saharan Wall. The Camel Corps (motorized unit)
