Hanan Kattan

Hanan Kattan (born May 22, 1962) is a Jordanian-born, British-based film producer of Palestinian origin. She is also co-owner of online marketing agency EBS Digital, multi-media entertainment company Enlightenment Productions and a Palestinian restaurant, Tabun Kitchen.

Kattan created Enlightenment Productions[1] and EBS Digital in partnership with Shamim Sarif.[2]

Enlightenment Productions were Winner of the Kingston Business Excellence Awards 2014, Best Creative and Media Sector Business.[3]

EBS Digital were Highly Commended in the Kingston Business Excellence Awards 2014 in the section for Best Business for Marketing and Social Media.[4]

Career

Kattan has produced three feature films through Enlightenment Productions including 1950s South African drama/love story The World Unseen and contemporary urban romantic comedy I Can't Think Straight.[5] She also conceived the 2010 TEDx Holy Land Conference, which brought together Arab and Israeli women to discuss issues of mutual interest in technology, entertainment and design, which then became the subject of the 2011 documentary film, The House of Tomorrow, directed by Sarif.[6]

At Cannes Festival[7] 2013 Shamim Sarif and Hanan announced their new film Despite The Falling Snow.[8] The film starring Mission Impossible 5 Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson,[9][10][11][12] Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Antje Traue, Sam Reid, Anthony Head and Trudie Styler, which was released in 2015.

The film has won 13 awards to date, 3 at the Prague International Film Festival[13] 3 more at the Milan International Film Festival[14] and others at Los Angeles,[15] Manchester,[16] Sedona,[17] Buffalo,[18] Soho and Orlando [19] Film Festivals

Kattan published her first book Grow Your Profits[20] about online marketing in 2012 through Enlightenment Productions.

In 2013 Kattan won Entrepreneur of the Year award at the Kingston Business Awards.[21]

On the 14th September 2014 Enlightenment Productions was announced as one of the finalists for Breaking the Mould Award, a prize aimed to promote and enhance the role of women in business.[22]

In 2016 Kattan opened her Palestinian restaurant Tabun Kitchen[23] in Soho, London.

Filmography

Personal life

After nearly 20 years she married the writer and director Shamim Sarif.[24] They live in Surrey with their two sons, Ethan and Luca.[25]
