Hawa Ahmed (Somali: Xaawo Axmed, Arabic: حواء أحمد) is a Swedish fashion model of Somali origin and winner of Cycle 4 of Sweden's Next Top Model.[1]
Biography
Hawa was born in Somalia in 1989. She comes from a large Muslim family, with four sisters and three brothers.[1][2] After spending a few of her early years in Mombasa, Kenya, at the age of seven, she and her family moved to Sweden.[1]
Hawa later began entering modeling competitions, gaining experience with each passing contest.[3] In 2007, she decided to enter as a contestant in the reality television modeling show Sweden's Next Top Model. She wound up winning the entire competition.[1]
Career
Since winning Sweden’s Next Top Model, Hawa has been making the most of the numerous opportunities that have been presented to her. She is very involved in the promotion of her young modeling career, and worked on an international ad-campaign for the Make Up Store in 2009.[3]
Additionally, Hawa was featured as a cover model on Issue #4 of Sheeko, a glossy lifestyle magazine published quarterly for and by the Horn of Africa community.
Personal life
Hawa counts the pioneering Somali models Iman and Waris Dirie among her biggest inspirations.[3] Her favorite designer is Roberto Cavalli, for whom she hopes to one day do a runway show.[1] She is also a yoga aficionado and believes in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.[3]
She currently lives in Stockholm.
