Heavy Jack is an indie rock band formed in 2005 now back in Calgary, Canada.

History

2005–2006: Soup

In September 2005, Heavy Jack recorded at Turtle Studios in White Rock, British Columbia, to start production for their debut album. The band originally recorded 27 songs off the floor, but only the five best tracks from the session were released as the Soup EP. It was around this time that Heavy Jack began preparing the songs for what eventually would become Heavy Jack - Multiply.

2007-2008: Multiply

Around the middle of 2006, Heavy Jack went to Digital Sound Magic to get Soup mastered for replication. Richard Dolmat, after hearing Soup, approached Heavy Jack to record a full-length album. In 2007, Heavy Jack finished off the arrangements for the songs and started recording at Digital Sound Magic.[1] Early on in the sessions, Richard Dolmat asked to sign on as co-producer in addition to being the engineer. Although their debut album took only 90 hours to track and mix, a series of events with Jon Falk (including a broken finger, sprained ankle, and an appendectomy) delayed the process with sessions extending into 2007 and 2008. In May 2008, Heavy Jack Multiply was finally mastered and ready for production.

Although the songs were recorded, an album cover had yet to be designed at this point. Heavy Jack contacted Duke Floss, a friend of the band, to help create the cover for the album. Floss proceeded to design the band's album cover and website page.

The album artwork was finished early and Heavy Jack went to the local company Spin Digital Media for production of the CD. Multiply was released July 4, 2008, and the entire album debuted on Audio-Surf Radio that weekend.

The band has started work on their untitled follow-up to Multiply, but have no plans for a release date.

2009: Re-Release

Feedback for the band has been mostly positive[2] from the Independent Press on the Internet, as well as fans on music websites sites such as StereoFame.

On February 5, 2009 Heavy Jack re-released their album for free download on their website.[3]

2012: Original Copy
