The Asian racer[1] (Hemorrhois nummifer or Coluber nummifer) is a species of snake belonging to Colubridae[2] family. Up to meter and a half in length.
Geographic range
It is found in in Armenia, Cyprus, northeast of Egypt, Greece (in the Aegean islands including Kalymnos, Kos or Lipsi), northern Iraq, northeast of Iran, northern and central Israel, Jordan, eastern Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Uzbekistan, Russia, North Caucasus, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Turkey (in its Asian portion).
Description
Up to meter and a half in length. The snake is not venomous. The color brown bright spots on its back in the form of coins (hence the name). A similar-looking external appearance of the viper is sometimes confused them, but you can notice some differences:
- The spots on the back of the viper are connected, whereas in anger are separate
- Anger thinner relative length than viper
- Tail of anger sharpened
This snake is fed from an active day, rodents, lizards, birds and other snakes
