The Hidalgo Texas Port of Entry is located at the McAllen–Hidalgo–Reynosa International Bridge. The tolling operation on the US side of the bridge is operated by the nearby city of McAllen, TX. Since 1996, all northbound trucks are required to use the Pharr–Reynosa International Bridge. The crossing consists of two 4-lane spans; one dedicated to northbound traffic, the other to southbound vehicles.
History
The first bridge connecting the cities of Hidalgo, TX and Reynosa, Tamaulipas was built in 1926.[1] Even prior to 1926, primitive ferry service existed between the cities via rowboat.
