Hope Aldrich Rockefeller
Hope Aldrich Rockefeller (born May 17, 1938) is an American newspaper publisher. She is the eldest daughter of philanthropist John Davison Rockefeller III (1906–1978) and Blanchette Ferry Hooker (1909–1992). Her elder brother is former Senator John Davison "Jay" Rockefeller IV (born 1937).
Hope pursued a career in journalism and has worked for Long Island's Newsday, Beijing's China Daily, New York's The Village Voice, and the Washington Monthly. She worked for the Santa Fe Reporter in the 1980s before she bought the newspaper and became its publisher.
She continues to reside in New Mexico and as of 1996, Hope was New Mexico's third wealthiest resident. Her net worth was approximately $250 million at that time. She now lives in Corona Del Mar, California.
In 1959 she married John Spencer (b. February 3, 1930). They have three sons:
- David Hooker Spencer (b. December 1, 1961)
- Benjamin Murray Spencer (b. December 11, 1964)
- Theodore Spencer (b. August 3, 1966)
