Horace Baldwin
Horace Baldwin was mayor of Houston, Texas in 1844. Horace Baldwin was born in 1798 in Baldwinsville, New York to Jonas Cutler Baldwin and Elizabeth Warner Baldwin.[1] His sister, Charlotte Baldwin Allen, was the wife of one of the co-founders of Houston, Texas, Augustus Chapman Allen. He followed his sister to Houston, where he served as mayor of the city in 1844, the year before Texas annexed to the United States. Baldwin died in Galveston, Texas on November 8, 1850. He was buried in Glenwood Cemetery.[1]
