Hot Trip to Heaven is the fifth studio album by British alternative rock band Love and Rockets, released in 1994 on American, after Beggar's Banquet dropped the band for not creating a successful follow-up single to "So Alive".

Background

Hot Trip to Heaven exchanged much of the band's former gothic alternative rock sound in favor of a hi-tech electronic, ambient direction. The incorporation of dancier elements—especially evident in the lead single "This Heaven"—largely worked against the band commercially, despite their ever-present psychedelic focus. This resulted in the album alienating much of their core college rock audience instead of attracting new listeners.

Love and Rockets would return to guitar-based alternative rock on their next album, 1996's Sweet F.A., before further exploring electronic music on their swan song, 1998's Lift.
