It uses a 5.9-inch display, with Full HD resolution (1920x1080 pixels) and sloping 2.5D shielded glass.[2][3][4] The Mate 9 also included FPC1025 fingerprint sensor, which produced by Fingerprint Cards of Sweden. The fingerprint sensor features a 4-level security system to make sure it’s blisteringly fast and accurate.[3][5]
The Mate 9 is equipped with an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 960 chipset, which featured an ARM Cortex-A73/A53 Octa-core CPU and Mali G71 Octa-core GPU. It is the first chipset to feature them. The CPU delivers the faster multi-core performance, while reducing power consumption by 15 percent. According to Huawei, the chipset is "the fastest [it has] built."[1][2] It included 4,000 mAh high-density battery with Huawei’s SuperCharge technology, which allowing 58 percent charge in half-an-hour, with a full charge only taking 90 minutes. The battery provides the Mate 9 with over two days of battery life, according to Huawei.[1][3]
It supports GSM, UMTS, LTE-TDD, LTE-FDD networks (support bands are vary by models).[6] In some countries, the Dual SIM version is available.[7][8] The Mate 9 supports Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and NFC.[7]
The smartphone is equipped with dual camera module, that is powered by Leica. The rear (main) camera is compounded with f/2.2 12-megapixel color camera and one f/2.2 20-megapixel monochrome camera, which users can take two images together to produce an image with more detail. The monochrome lens can be used separately. It also includes “lossless zoom” and “4-in-1 hybrid focus”, which allowing user to zoom in on subject without worrying about degrading the quality of the photo, and a combination of laser, phase detection, depth, and contrast focus. The Mate 9 also features 4K video, and a front-facing 8MP camera.[4][3]
The Mate 9 comes in Space Gray, Moonlight Silver, Champagne Gold, Mocha Brown, and Ceramic White. It equipped with 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM, and microSD support up to 256GB.[2][6] In China, the black color is also available. It also provides 4GB+32GB and 6GB+128GB versions.[9]
Huawei also released Porsche Design Limited Edition of Mate 9, which combining Porsche Design’s signature aesthetic with Huawei’s technology. The EMUI 5.0 reimagines the native Android operating system, and offers the choice between having an app tray or having all apps displayed on the home screen. It offers a unified color scheme throughout the operating system with a rather attractive white and blue combination. According to Huawei, there is more than 50 percent of features can be reached within two clicks while over 90 percent can reached within three clicks for this UI. The EMUI 5.0 also improved the performance.[1][3]
