iDonate is an online fundraising platform for charities and non profit organisations in Ireland. It was launched in 2011. The fundraising system is available to the 8000+ charities and non profit organisations in Ireland.[1] The system was initially set up to support a small number of West-of-Ireland-based non-profits, and as of 2016 supports over 1100 non-profits across Ireland.
iDonate offers a white label online donation widget and white label fundraising pages. The fundraising platform includes online donation support, fundraising pages and a Facebook donation App.
Formation and organisation
iDonate was formed in 2012 by entrepreneur Alan Coyne. Coyne was then technical director with Western Webs in Tuam, County Galway,[2] and would later develop the iCrowdFund crowdfunding website[3][4][5] and TENDO Giving Micro-donations App.[6][7]
iDonate is registered in Ireland with the Companies Registration Office,[8] and is a Corporate Member of Fundraising Ireland,[9] the association for professional fundraisers in Ireland.
The company uses the slogan 'Making Giving Easier' in their radio advertising campaign for fundraisers.[10]
The Wheel, which is a support and representative body for charities across Ireland lists iDonate in its ResourcePoint Supplier Directory.[11]
iDonate was the recipient of The SCCUL Entrepreneurship Social Enterprises Award in 2012,[12] iDonate was a regional finalist in the Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards in 2013.[13] and featured by Silicon Republic as "Tech Start-up of the Week" in July 2013.[14]
Services
iDonate is an online fundraising system with no setup fees, but does charge a five per cent fee on online donations to cover credit card fees, VAT and money transfer fees. Other fundraising services in the platform include :
- iFundraise - a general purpose fundraising portal for sports clubs, schools, community groups and individual fundraising causes. iFundraise is used by the Gaelic Athletic Association in their "Off the Booze & On the Ball" [15] social initiative for GAA clubs.
- iRegister - an event registration system.
- TENDO Giving - a micro-donations app which allows people to 'donate in kind' to charities and non-profits. TENDO Giving is intended as an alternative to the SMS text donations systems. For example, donating a bottle of Ballygowan equates to a donation of one euro to a charity.
iDonate also offer website hosting and social media services to charities and nonprofits.
