IEEE 1680

In computing IEEE 1680 refers to a standard by the IEEE for the environmental performance criteria for desktop computers, notebook computers and monitors.[1][2]

IEEE 1680 is the defacto standard for green computing at the desktop level.[2]

At the moment (Aug 2013), the 1680 standards family consists of:

  1. 1680 – Umbrella Standard, provides guidelines and implementation procedures for this IEEE 1680 Family of Standards.
  2. 1680.1 – Personal Computer Products Standard.
  3. 1680.2 – Imaging Equipment Standard.
  4. 1680.3 – Television Standard.

The 1680.4 standard for Servers is in the development.[3] The 1680.6 standard for Environmental Assessment of Complex Set Top Boxes is in the development.[4]
