ITE College Central is one of the Institute of Technical Education's three Colleges under the "One ITE System, Three Colleges" Governance and Education Model. It moved into its current premises at Ang Mo Kio in December 2012, together with ITE Headquarters. This third comprehensive College covers a land area of 10.61 hectares with a total gross floor area of 192,820m2. It opened its doors to its first cohort of students in January 2013.[1] Positioned as "A College of Creativity and Innovation", the campus was opened officially on 8 November 2013 by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.[2]
History
Originally the ITE College Central schools are located at Bedok, Bishan, MacPherson, Tampines and Yishun until December 2012. Currently; the MacPherson and Yishun are being demolished to make way for condominiums/HDB Flats, Bishan became St Joseph's Institution and Tampines became a commercial building; while Bedok is being converted into a FIBUA village.
Academic Schools and courses
ITE College Central has four Schools (School of Business & Services, School of Design & Media, School of Electronics & Info-Communications Technology and School of Engineering) running a total of 51 courses.
Facilities
In Zentrum, the commercial belt, there are shops and restaurants open to ITE students, staff and the general public, such as NTUC FairPrice Supermarket, Popular Bookstore, First Culinary Restaurant, Eatzi Gourmet Restaurant and Koufu Foodcourt. Also located in ITE College Central is ITEepitome, an authentic training facility for students to work and interact with customers in a genuine commercial setting.
Notable alumni
- Valen Low: Head of Singapore Arm Wrestling club, Oceania Arm Wrestling Champion u80kg(2014), Asian Youth Arm wrestling Champion 65-70kg(2014), most decorated Arm Wrestler in Singapore history.
