Iesu!, (Welsh for Jesus), is a play written by Aled Jones Williams. It was premièred in Sherman Cymru, Cardiff, in August 2008, coinciding with the city hosting the National Eisteddfod. This first production was by Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru.
The play proved to be very controversial upon its release due to the portrayal of Jesus as a woman. This was seen by many Christian groups as blasphemous, whilst others within the church welcomed it as a new thought-provoking take on the Messiah.[1]
The script has been published on paperback by Gwasg Gomer.
