Lloyd's List the oldest newspaper in the world which provides maritime news around the clock, in print and on the web is produced by the division of Informa Maritime & Transport which handles maritime information for the entire group. It sells maritime information such as the Lloyd's List to corporations in 134 countries.[2] Informa Maritime & Transport is a publisher of 30 market leading newspapers and trade magazines for the maritime and transport sector. Their publishing products include Cargo Systems, International Freighting Weekly, Lloyd's Cruise International, Lloyd's Ship Manager, Ship Care, Containerisation International and Lloyd's Shipping Economist.
It has also published a guide for each of the two types of contract between merchant and shipowner: Time Charters and Voyage Charters. In a Voyage Charter, the charterer hires the vessel for a single voyage, while the vessel’s owner provides the master, crew, bunkers and supplies. In a Time Charter, the vessel is hired for a specific amount of time. The vessel’s owner still manages the vessel but the charterer directs the vessel’s operation, and may sub-charter the vessel.[3]
