Innovative Vector Control Consortium
The Innovative Vector Control Consortium (IVCC) is a product development partnership that develops new insecticides for vector control and researches ways to use existing pesticides more effectively.[1] IVCC was established in 2005[2] and became registered as a nonprofit in 2008.[1] Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine is the parent organization of IVCC.[3]
Partnerships and work
IVCC has partners across both public and private sectors, including in industry and academia, and with funders, non-governmental organizations, and nonprofits.[4]
IVCC has partnered with NGenIRS and Innovation to Impact as well as with companies including Syngenta.[5]
IVCC has also partnered with the Armed Forces Pest Management Board to discuss improvements to indoor residual spraying as well as devising new methods of vector control.[6]
IVCC also funds the Malaria Decision Support System project in Malawi.[7]
IVCC also funds other projects that focus on malaria and dengue control.[8]:151
Organizational structure
- Nick Hamon is the chief executive officer of IVCC.[9]
- Janet Hemingway works on advocacy and resource mobilization (and was previously the chief executive officer) at IVCC.[10]
Funding
IVCC was originally funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation with a grant of $50.7 million over five years.[1]
In 2010 the Gates Foundation awarded a grant of $50 million for IVCC to continue its work.[2]
IVCC has also been funded by UKaid, USAID, the Swiss Agency for Development, UNITAID, and Wellcome Trust.[11]
In May 2016, IVCC was granted $75 million by the Gates Foundation.[12]
