Dr. Ivan Png Paak Liang (Chinese: 方博亮; pinyin: Fāng Bóliàng) is a Singaporean economist and academic. He is a professor in the School of Business and Professor of Information Systems and Economics at the National University of Singapore. He is the first full-time holder of the Lim Kim San Professorship since its establishment.[1]
Png was previously a faculty member at the UCLA Anderson School of Management from 1985 to 1996,[2] and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from 1993 to 1996.
Education
Png attended Anglo-Chinese School. He was awarded a President's Scholarship.
He then graduated with a BA (First Class Honours) in economics from the Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge in 1978 and a PhD in business from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1985.
Writings
Png is the author of Managerial Economics, which has been translated into Chinese (both traditional characters and simplified characters) and Korean. Managerial Economics is written, "in simple, accessible style, the text-book presents the essentials of managerial economics." The book has been revised three times, with the fourth English edition published by Routledge.
Profession
Png is a senior consultant with Economic Analysis Associates LLP, and a co-founder of Thothe Technologies. He was a nominated MP (10th Parliament of Singapore) from 2005 to 2006.[3] He was also a Reserve Officer in the Singapore Army Third Division, leaving the service with the rank of Captain.
