Ivana Wong (Chinese: 王菀之; pinyin: wang wan zhi; Jyutping: wong jyun zi; born 18 June 1979) is a Hong Kong Cantopop singer-songwriter and actress. In 2015, she won the Best Supporting Actress and Best New Performer Awards in the 34th Hong Kong Film Award for her act in the film Golden Chicken 3.
Biography
Wong's first public performance was at the CASH (Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong) Song Writers contest in 2000 in which her Mandarin piece "It is just misunderstanding and not tragic at all" placed first. Soon after she wrote songs for popular Chinese singers including Jacky Cheung, Sammi Cheng, and Jolin Tsai.
She signed for Universal Music (環球唱片) in 2004 as an all-round artist (composer, lyricist and singer). On 5 October 2004, she sang with Jacky Cheung (張學友) "I am really hurt" (我真的受傷了) in his live performance and started to become well-known.
In May 2005, her first EP album "Ivana王菀之" was launched with excellent sales, ranked the best selling album in HMV for weeks.[1] Continuing on her success, a second album "I Love My Name" was released five months later in November 2005.
In 2008, Ivana's First Mandarin Album (王菀之Ivana首張國語創作專輯) was awarded one of the Top 10 Selling Mandarin Albums of the Year at the 2008 IFPI Hong Kong Album Sales Awards, presented by the Hong Kong branch of IFPI.[2]
