Jaipur Junction railway station (Code : JP) is a railway station in Jaipur. Jaipur also serves as the headquarters of the North Western Railway zone of the Indian Railways since 2002.[1] The Jaipur Division of the North Western Railway is also headquartered at Jaipur.

Overview

It is located along Railway Road. The inter-state bus terminal Sindhi Camp is also close to the station. It is linked to other parts of the country by meter gauge and broad gauge lines. Jaipur station alone deals with 88 Broad Gauge and 22 Meter Gauge trains and 35,000 passengers in a day. It is the busiest railway station in Rajasthan.[1] It has direct trains on the broad gauge network to all major cities in Rajasthan such as Ajmer,Jodhpur,Udaipur,etc. and India such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Indore, Chandigarh, Ernakulam, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune, Guwahati, Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Nagpur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Patna, Visakhapatnam, Ernakulam etc. and metre gauge network to Sikar and Churu.

One of India's most famous and luxurious trains The Palace on Wheels, also makes a scheduled stop in Jaipur.[2] Jaipur Junction is 5 km away from City wall of Jaipur. The newly constructed Jaipur metro has a stop here.

Jaipur is very well connected to other major cities in India. Delhi is connected 13 times daily. Agra and Mathura are connected 11 times daily. Ahmedabad is connected over 8 times daily. Kanpur is connected 6 times daily. Rohtak, Bhiwani, Mumbai, Bhopal, Surat, Allahabad and Varanasi are connected 4 times daily. Vadodara is connected over 3 times daily. Bilaspur is connected 9 times a week. Jammu and Raipur are connected 8 times a week. Khajuraho, Rajkot, Gorakhpur, Jabalpur and Gwalior are connected daily. Amritsar, Vijayawada and Chennai are connected 5 times a week. Porbandar 4 times a week. Guwahati, Pune, Bangalore and Hyderabad are connected thrice a week. Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar, Puri and Mysore twice a week. Ranchi, Goa, Mangalore, Ernakulam, Coimbatore and Visakhapatnam are connected weekly.

Within Rajasthan, Jaipur is connected to all major and most minor stations by daily (or multiple daily) trains. Ajmer is connected over 22 times daily. Alwar over 20 times. Jodhpur over 12 times daily. Kota and Abu Road over 10 times. Sikar over 7 times. Bikaner and Bhilwara over 5 times. Udaipur over 4 times.
