Jasol (जसोल) is a located in Pachpadra tehsil of Barmer district, India.
The historical village of Jasol, the capital of the former Malani area was ruled by the independent Mahecha clan of the Rathore Rajputs. It includes Cenotaphs, and the temple of Rani Bhatiyani. The horses of the indigenous Malani breed are raised there. Jasol is known for the temple of mata rani bhatiyani ( Jasol Ranisa ) as devotees from various parts of India come to seek blessings of Majisa .
History
Etymology
The name Jasol is derived after the descendants of a Rathore sub-clan.
Establishment
The village was established by the Rathore rulers. The Rathores of Jasol, who are the descendents of Rawal Mallinath, are the eldest amongst all houses of Rathores in Rajasthan. Rawal Mallinath[1] was the eldest son of Rawal Salkhaji, Salkhaji's other two son were Viramdeo and Jaitmal.
- The houses of Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ratlam, Sitamau, Sailana, Idar and Alirajpur trace their lineage to Viramdeo.
- The houses of Gurhamalani and Kelwa trace their lineage from Jaitmal.
Rawal Mallinathji
Rawal Mallinath[2] was a warrior-saint and songs of his heroic valour and saintly attitude are still sung by folk singers of western Rajasthan. His wife Rani Rupade was also a saint; bhajans composed by her are still popular in Western Rajasthan. Rawal Mallinath was an ardent horse lover, annual cattle fair by the name of Rawal Mallinath cattle fair is held every year at Tilwara village in the Luni river near Jasol. It is said that the cattle breeders after praying Rawal Mallinath dig the dry river just by their hands and pits of water are filled for the cattle. This phenomenon only takes place during the cattle fair. Hundreds of horse breeders of the indigenous Marwari, Kathiawari and Sindhi breeds of horses attend the annual fanfare along with several camel breeders, cattle owners of breeds like Tharparkar and Kankerj breeds of cows attend the fair. Demographics
Jasol village population is 12,414 according to census 2001, where male population is 6,415 while female population is 5,999.[3]
Places of interest
There is an old fort, cenotaphs, and a Temple of Shri Rani Bhatiyani Mandir, the wife of the erstwhile ruler of Jasol.
The building where the current police station is situated was the office of the British Resident Commissioner of the Malani Paragana.
Notables
- Kirat Singh Sodha, who was the Prime-Minister of the Thakur of Jasol, was the Battle-Hero of the Battle between the states of Jodhpur and Jaipur in 1808. In respect of his bravery, a Chhatri (Cenotaph) was made inside the Mehrangarh Fort at Jodhpur near the Jay Pole. His birthplace was village Bhookan in Barmer. Folk songs in his memory are sung by the bards in Rajasthan.
- Late Thakur Himmat Singh Jasol, son of late Thakur Hukam singh Jasol was a famous visionary of Jasol.He served as the personal advisor of late H.H. Maharaja Himmat singh sahib bahadur,the Maharaja of Idar state from 1946 to 1950.He was elected sarpanch of Jasol in 1961 and constructed the Jasol industrial area which is now named after him.He oversaw the development of Jasol until his abrubt death in year 1974 at the time when he was still holding the office of Sarpanch.
- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and ex finance, defence and foreign minister of India Jaswant Singh's birthplace is Jasol.

- Military strategist of the Indian Army Lt. Gen. Hanut Singh Rathore.[4] Paramvir Chakra Awardee (Posthumous). Arun Kshetrapal was under his command.
- Thakur Madho Singh Jasol was the member of the first legislative assembly of Rajasthan from Pachpadra Constituency.
- Rawal Amar Singh, a judge, was elected as the member of the legislative assembly from Pachpadra constituency as an independent candidate in 1962. He was the petitioner in the case pertaining to Rajasthan Land Reforms and Resumptions of Jagirs Act, 1952, wherein the validity of the Act was challenged. The case is reported in AIR 1955 SC 504 and 1955 2 SCR 303 by the name of Thakur Amar Singh versus State of Rajasthan.
- Speaker of Rajasthan assembly Ram Niwas Mirdha. Born in Jasol as his father Baldev Ram Mirdha was posted as a senior police officer in Jasol in 1924. From Kuchera village in Nagaur district.
- IAS officer of Gujarat cadre Kr. Fateh Singh Jasol. He was Additional Chief Secretary of the Government of Gujarat and president of the Gujarat IAS Association. Authored collection of poems, What song unsung o my daughter.[5]
- Mehrangarh Fort Museum Curator Shri Nahar Singh Jasol. Author in Rajasthani language, historian, and an expert on the culture and traditions of western Rajasthan.

- Late Th. Samel Singh was a gallant soldier, who fought the first World War for the British army against the Germans on the border of France.
