Jayanti Prasad Tiwari
Jayanti Prasad Tiwari (1925–28 March 1983) was a social activist from Uttar Pradesh. He was born in the village of Bandanpur, to a well-known Tiwari Brahmin family. At a young age, he moved to Ahmedabad in 1932 and worked with Rustom Cama, a famous name of Ahmedabad. He was not able to study during his childhood and as an adult he decided to open schools and colleges in his home village. Fundraising enabled foundation of the Jan Sewa Ashram schools there.
His death on 28 March 1983 is commemorated annually in his schools.
