Jeff Burrell is an American actor and voice-over artist. He has worked under Roman Polanski and Lars von Trier.

Early years

Burrell was born in Staten Island, New York, in 1968. He attended the High School of Performing Arts in New York and then graduated from Oberlin College in 1990.[1] Until 1994 he studied at the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch in Berlin, Germany, the first American to do so.[1][2]

Career

Burrell's foreign accent made it difficult for him to find acting work in Germany; because of it he was dropped from a theatre production after a short time. He concentrated on audio work, voice-over and commercials.[3]

Burrell was at the Neues Theater in Halle (Saale) until 2000, when he moved to Berlin.[1]

Burrell appeared in Roman Polanski's The Ghost Writer (2010),[4] in Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac (2013) and will appear in Race, by Stephen Hopkins, in 2016. He was in the spy thriller Jack Strong by Władysław Pasikowski,[5] and in the documentary Warsaw Uprising by Jan Komasa.[6] He appeared in Oles Sanin's film The Guide, which was Ukraine's 2014 nomination to the Academy Awards.[7]
