Jelena Dorotka

Jelena Hoffmann Dorotka (1876 - 1965, Dubrovnik), was a cubist painter. She was the daughter of the countess Maria Malvina de Bonda and Joseph Dorotka von sharma.

Dorotka lived in Paris from 1907 to 1914 and had an atelier at the Montparnasse. She was friends with Marie Vassilieff founder of the famous Paris Académie Russe (Académie Vassilieff). She met many leading figures of in the world of painting (Matisse, Chagall, Picasso, Van Dongen, Laurencin, and others), and also worked for a time in the Matisse Painting School. She also met the famous Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović. Upon the outbreak of World War I, Dorotka left France, and returned to Dubrovnik in 1922 after several years of wandering Europe.

A Croatian documentary, Jelena Dorotka - od Konala do Montparnassea, chronicled her story.[1]
