Jing Boran (Chinese: 井柏然; pinyin: Jǐng Bórán; born April 19, 1989 in Shenyang, Liaoning) is a Chinese singer and actor who rose to fame after winning first place in the 2007 My Hero contest.[1][2] Along with third-place winner Fu Xinbo, he then formed a group called BoBo. Since 2008, Jing has participated in various television series and movies. He is best known for his lead role in the Chinese box office hit Monster Hunt.
Career
Jing Boran entered the entertainment industry after winning first place on My Hero TV talent show. He then signed with Huayi Entertainment and debuted in a male duo pop group BoBo with fellow contestant Fu Xinbo. The duo released their first album Guang Rong in October 2007.
In 2008, Jing debuted as an actor in the television series Girl Rushes Forward. He also made a cameo appearance in Zhou Xun's movie The Equation of Love and Death. The following year, he participated in the sitcom Non-stop, and made his big screen debut in the movie Hot Summer Days. His performance in the movie netted him newcomer awards at the 30th Hong Kong Film Award and the Beijing College Student Film Festival.
In 2010, Jing joined Seed Music and released his first eponymous debut studio album in June 2011. The album topped charts in both Taiwan (G-music charts) and mainland China. At the Global Chinese Golden Chart, Jing won the Best Newcomer (silver award).
Jing then focused his career on the film industry, starring in a number of movies, including The Bullet Vanishes, The Guillotines, Up in the Wind and Rise of the Legend. In 2014, he was cast in the film Lost and Love alongside Andy Lau. His performance garnered him a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the 30th Golden Rooster Awards.
In February 2015, he starred alongside Zheng Shuang in the television series Love Weaves Through a Millennium, based on the Korean drama series Queen In-hyun's Man. In April, he became a cast member in travel reality show Divas Hit the Road (Season 2). The show, which features trendy and upcoming actors Yang Yang and Zheng Shuang, was popular with the audience and gained him more fans.
In July, Monster Hunt starring Jing and actress Bai Baihe premiered on cinemas. Upon release, it became a huge commercial success, breaking numerous box office records, including as the highest-grossing film in China. In August, A Tale of Three Cities was released; Jing stars in the film as a wanderer. At the GQ Men of the Year ceremony held in September, he won the Most Talented Idol award. In December, Jing was cast alongside Angelababy in the youth romance film Love O2O, based on Gu Man's novel Just One Smile is Very Alluring. The movie was released in August 2016.
In March 2016, Jing was cast in Lou Ye's film Lovers in Hell. In July, he joined the cast of Jiangsu Television's reality show Fighting Man. Jing then starred in the fantasy-action-adventure film Time Raiders, based on the online novel series Tomb Raiders. The film premiered on August 5 to impressive box office results, and is Jing's second summer box office hit after Monster Hunt in 2015.[3][4] In October, he began filming for Monster Hunt 2.
Endorsement and Ambassador Activities
In 2015, Jing became the first Chinese male endorser for L'oreal Paris. In May, Jing attended the Cannes Film Festival as a representative for L'oreal Paris.[5] In June, he became the endorser for eCommerce platform Chu Chu Jie.[6] He then headed to cities like Italy, Milan and Paris to attend fashion-related activities, and collaborated with Z.zegna, officially debuting as a designer.[7]
In July, Jing became the youth ambassador for the Youth Creativity Entrepreneur awards, established by United Nations Human Settlements Programme. The same month, he released his first book 小井想要一部时光机 (Xiao Jing wants a Time Machine); the book sold 30000 copies in less than two days.[8] In June, he became the endorser for Mondelez International, helping to introduce the American snack product to China.[9] In November, he collaborated with Japanese model Kiko Mizuhara for the brand GAP, promoting the Hamilton Watch.
Jing is a frequent invitee for the Balmian Menswear Fashion Show.[10] In 2016, he became the endorsers for products like ASUS laptops, Yunnan Baiyao toothpaste, Hao Ke Lai steaks and the B2C eCommerce website lvmama; as well as the games Oriental SaltLake Resort and Dinosaur Land.
Personal life
In March 2016, Jing was announced to be dating actress Ni Ni.[11]
