John Hedigan is a judge of the Irish Court of Appeal since September 2016. Prior to his appointment, he was a judge of the Irish High Court from April 2007. On 20 July 2016, he was nominated by the Government of Ireland for appointment by the President of Ireland to the Court of Appeal.[1]
He was educated at Belvedere College, Trinity College, Dublin and King's Inns. He was called to the Irish Bar in 1976. He became a Senior Counsel in 1990. He was a Judge of the European Court of Human Rights from November 1998 to April 2007.[2]
He became a Bencher of the King’s Inns in 2002. He was called to the English Bar in 1986 and to the Bar of New South Wales Australia in 1993.
He was chairperson of the Civil Service Disciplinary Appeals Tribunal 1992-1994.
