Kammersrohr is a municipality in the district of Lebern in the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland.

History

Kammersrohr is first mentioned in 1374 as ze Rore.[3]

Geography

Kammersrohr has an area, as of 2009, of 0.95 square kilometers (0.37 sq mi). Of this area, 0.53 km2 (0.20 sq mi) or 55.8% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.38 km2 (0.15 sq mi) or 40.0% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.03 km2 (7.4 acres) or 3.2% is settled (buildings or roads).[4]

Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 2.1% and transportation infrastructure made up 1.1%. Out of the forested land, 37.9% of the total land area is heavily forested and 2.1% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 29.5% is used for growing crops and 25.3% is pastures, while 1.1% is used for orchards or vine crops.[4]

The municipality is located in the Lebern district. It is the smallest municipality in the canton and is located on a terrace in the southern foothills of the Jura Mountains.

Coat of arms

The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is Argent a Mullet Gules between two Reed plants Vert fructed Sable and with two leaves each issuant from a Mount of 3 Coupeaux of the third.[5]

Demographics

Kammersrohr has a population (as of December 2015) of 33.[6] As of 2008, 2.8% of the population are resident foreign nationals.[7] Over the last 10 years (1999–2009 ) the population has changed at a rate of -15.9%.[8]

Most of the population (as of 2000) speaks German (37 or 94.9%), with the rest speaking English (1 or 2.6%) and Polish (1 or 2.6%).[9]

As of 2008, the gender distribution of the population was 56.8% male and 43.2% female. The population was made up of 19 Swiss men (51.4% of the population) and 2 (5.4%) non-Swiss men. There were 16 Swiss women (43.2%) and (0.0%) non-Swiss women.[10] Of the population in the municipality 20 or about 51.3% were born in Kammersrohr and lived there in 2000. There were 9 or 23.1% who were born in the same canton, while 6 or 15.4% were born somewhere else in Switzerland, and 4 or 10.3% were born outside of Switzerland.[9]

In 2008 the total Swiss population change (from all sources, including moves across municipal borders) was a decrease of 3 and the non-Swiss population decreased by 1 people. This represents a population growth rate of -10.0%.[7]

The age distribution, as of 2000, in Kammersrohr is; 4 children or 10.3% of the population are between 0 and 6 years old and 11 teenagers or 28.2% are between 7 and 19. Of the adult population, 2 people or 5.1% of the population are between 20 and 24 years old. 13 people or 33.3% are between 25 and 44, and 7 people or 17.9% are between 45 and 64.

As of 2000, there were 22 people who were single and never married in the municipality. There were 14 married individuals, 2 widows or widowers and 1 individuals who are divorced.[9]


As of 2000, there were 11 private households in the municipality, and an average of 3.5 persons per household.[8] There were 2 households that consist of only one person and 3 households with five or more people. Out of a total of 11 households that answered this question, 18.2% were households made up of just one person and there was one adults who lived with their parents. Of the rest of the households, there are 3 married couples without children, 5 married couples with children[9]

In 2000 there were 11 single-family homes (or 78.6% of the total) out of a total of 14 inhabited buildings. There were 3 multi-purpose buildings that were mostly used for housing (21.4%). Of the single-family homes 2 were built before 1919, while 2 were built between 1990 and 2000. The greatest number of single-family homes (4) were built between 1919 and 1945.[11]

In 2000 there were 14 apartments in the municipality. The most common apartment size was 3 rooms of which there were 4. There were no single room apartments and 8 apartments with five or more rooms. Of these apartments, a total of 11 apartments (78.6% of the total) were permanently occupied, while 2 apartments (14.3%) were seasonally occupied and 1 apartments (7.1%) were empty.[11] As of 2009, the construction rate of new housing units was 0 new units per 1000 residents.[8] The vacancy rate for the municipality, in 2010, was 0%.[8]

Politics

In the 2007 federal election the most popular party was the CVP which received 41.18% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the FDP (32.03%), the SVP (9.8%) and the Green Party (9.15%). In the federal election, a total of 22 votes were cast, and the voter turnout was 53.7%.[13]

Economy

As of 2010, Kammersrohr had an unemployment rate of 0%. As of 2008, there were 9 people employed in the primary economic sector and about 3 businesses involved in this sector. people were employed in the secondary sector and there were businesses in this sector. 3 people were employed in the tertiary sector, with 2 businesses in this sector.[8] There were 20 residents of the municipality who were employed in some capacity, of which females made up 30.0% of the workforce.

In 2008 the total number of full-time equivalent jobs was 9. The number of jobs in the primary sector was 6, all of which were in agriculture. There were no jobs in the secondary sector. The number of jobs in the tertiary sector was 3. In the tertiary sector; 1 was in the sale or repair of motor vehicles, 2 or 66.7% were technical professionals or scientists.[14]

In 2000, there were 13 workers who commuted away from the municipality.[15] Of the working population, 0% used public transportation to get to work, and 55% used a private car.[8]

Religion

From the 2000 census, 18 or 46.2% were Roman Catholic, while 14 or 35.9% belonged to the Swiss Reformed Church. 7 (or about 17.95% of the population) belonged to no church, are agnostic or atheist,FALSE[9]

Education

In Kammersrohr about 13 or (33.3%) of the population have completed non-mandatory upper secondary education, and 11 or (28.2%) have completed additional higher education (either university or a Fachhochschule). Of the 11 who completed tertiary schooling, 45.5% were Swiss men, 45.5% were Swiss women.[9]

As of 2000, there were 8 students from Kammersrohr who attended schools outside the municipality.[15]
