Kentucky Route 603 (KY 603) is a north–south urban secondary four-lane state highway located entirely in Daviess County in northwest Kentucky, within the city limits of Owensboro. It originates at an interchange with U.S. Route 60 (US ,60, Wendell H. Ford Expressway) and ends at KY 144 (East 4th Street), which within city limits, was the original US 60.
History
In 2014, the Wendell H. Ford Expressway, which carries US 60 and US 231 around the city, was rerouted to bypass the eastern side of Owensboro. The KY 603 designation was assigned for the existing portion of the original expressway in order to connect the expressway to the campus of Owensboro Medical Health System (which was completed in 2013).[2]
