Khaled Negm is the Minister of Communications and Information Technology in Egypt since March 2015. Negm has more than 30 years of experience in the ICT sector, and he is specialized in the design of information infrastructure and applications in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa.
Education
Khaled Negm (Arabic: خالد نجم) has a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.), Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from Ain Shams University in 1983. He has a Diploma in Project Management from the American University in Cairo in 1992; and a Master of Engineering, ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) from Nile University in 2010.
Career
In 1984, Negm joined IBM in the engineering department and technical support department. He, then, worked in the technology service development sector from 1990 to 1999. Until 2006, he headed the department of the design and implementation of networks and data centers. Negm took over implementing transformation programs in integrated technology services and formed their working groups. In October 2007, he assumed the position of Integrated Management System (IMS) manager. In 2012, he held the position of Smarter Cities ITS Leader for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) at IBM Energy, Transportation, Public Safety, and Water. In November 2014, he was appointed as chairman of Egypt National Post Organization (ENPO). In March 2015, Khaled Negm was appointed the Minister of Communications and Information Technology in Egypt in a reshuffle to the cabinet of Ibrahim Mehleb. He has more than 30 years of experience in the ICT sector. He is specialized in the design of information infrastructure and applications in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa. Negm has also held positions in smart cities applications in managing government services, energy, water and public safety. Negm is a member of the board of the directors at the Chamber of Information Technology and Communication Industry, and a member of the US Chamber of Commerce. He has built a strong network of connections in the banking, government and telecom sectors on the local, regional and international levels in the fields of sales and marketing and technical support. This is in addition to companies of insurance, petrol and real estate.
