Kilavikulam is a village in Rajapalayam Taluk in Virudhunagar District of Tamilnadu State in India. It is located at 50 km from the District Headquarters of Virudhunagar and located 597 km from Chennai (Capital City of Tamilnadu State).
Climate
The village is a region of extreme hotness and low humidity. The north east monsoon provides the bulk of rainfall during the months of October and November. The north east monsoons, which starts in June and lasts until mid August makes the region relatively cooler than in other months.

Ayyanar Koil Falls
Ayyanar Koil forest area is located 10 km west of Rajapalayam on the eastern slope of Western Ghats and features many of streams, waterfalls, springs and a temple. Hiking in this forest area is one of the main recreations for Rajapalayam residents. Rajapalayam Water Reservoir, which provides water to the entire city, is situated en route to Ayyanar Falls. Rajapalayam Dam and Rajapalayam Water Treatment Plant are also situated adjacent to the Rajapalayam Water Reservoir. The water supply and distribution system are gravity-fed.
Sanjeevi Hills
Sanjeevi Hills is a small hill situated in south-west Rajapalayam en route Kilavikulam village. The Murugan Temple is at top of the hill. Karthigai Deepam lit on the top spot on thirukarthigai day of every year. The calm and serene ambiance makes it a favorite spot for tourists. Tradition recounts that in order to save the unconscious Lakshmana, Hanuman, the monkey god carried the entire Sanjeevi Hills with the herbal plants to Sri Lanka and threw it away afterwards. It is said that the thrown down hill is the Sanjeevi Hills.
Work & Life
The local economy includes surgical cotton & polyspin industries as well as farming.
People follow orthodox Hinduism and the Thai pongal and Chithirai Pongal festivals are celebrated. The latter festival is celebrated for the sake of asking the goddess Kamatchi Amman for good health and wealth. People of this village who settled in various parts of the country come to their native village on this occasion. The streets get flooded with people. Nearly 5000 people will attend the mega festival every May month.
