Komaripalem (కొమరిపాలెం) is a village in Biccavolu mandal of East Godavari district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India.
Geography
Komaripalem is located in Biccavolu Mandal, East Godavari District. It has an average elevation of 13 meters (42.65 feet). It is famous for making of fire crackers especially hand-made roakets and flower pots.
History
Long ago there was ancient town named Gowripatnam padu. It was a big town in Rajamahendravaram kingdom. But it often suffered with natural disasters like earthquake, drought, etc. They have or they made number of big pounds to store water. But at the last stage of township the people had nothing to eat. They tried to eat even soil to control hunger. They felt that is very hard to stay there and decided to shift from the town. They people went in different directions and made small villages as per their requirement and comfortability. A major number of people who have great affection with the town settled very near and made a village. They felt this new built village is a son of the old town. As per Hindu stories Kumaraswamy is only natural born son of Gowri devi. So, they put the village name as "Kumarapalem". By the time and different pronunciations the name gradually changed to Komaripalem.
Everywhere you can find one village goddess in village or near to village. But Komaripalem people still giving priority to Gowripatnampadu town goddess Gogulamma located 5 km far from the village and also offers pujas to village goddess dosalamma. Still you can find three very small pounds near to gogulamma temple named enugula cheruvu, kanikela cheruvu, etc. and also you can find some big rocks which were used as temple bricks.
